Summary

The Hamburger plugin is a distortion and dynamics processor that can add warmth, grit, and punch to your audio signals. It is designed to be used on individual tracks, but can also be used to add instability to a mix when desired.

Explanation

Hamburger was created out of a desire to have a flexible distortion plugin with multiple modes and highly adjustable tonal characteristics.

The magic lies in the signal chain of the plugin, which hopefully will provide more understanding on how the plugin works and how the parameters affect the sound.

The Hamburger plugin includes a compander unit, which combines a pre-distortion compressor and post-distortion expander to control signal dynamics.

An emphasis EQ with two equal but opposite EQ curves is applied before and after distortion.

The plugin offers various distortion types with adjustable parameters, as well as a Dry/Wet control to blend the distorted and original signals. Input and output gain controls are also included for convenience.
